It is a great honor to be involved in the debut release of Andy Martin. Those of you who have followed Andy over the years are well aware of the intimate and sincere depth of his music. Newcomers to this gifted trombonist will find a world of dedication and experience in his playing.

Andy Martin is always busy as a studio musician for major motion picture and television soundtracks and his other recording credits range from pop stars such as Prince, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow and Paul Anka to legendary jazz masters Horace Silver, Bill Holman, Dick Berk and Latin percussion great, Poncho Sanchez. Andy is also the featured soloist with the Vic Lewis West Coast All-Stars recordings and has performed with the internationally recognized Metropole Orchestra in Holland.

All the musicians chosen for Leading Off are of the highest musical integrity and they all brought their own artistic distinction to the studio. These qualities, as well as the friendship shared by all, has brought a real sense of interplay and honesty to the music that can only be found in familiar surroundings.

Leading Off marks Andy Martin’s emergence as a leader and I look forward to hearing more from this outstanding musician and composer in the future.
